Subtitles your way

Choose how subtitles look in each book and move them out of the way on any page, plus a round of fixes for drawing, sign-in, printing and data export.

  • New

    Subtitle styles

Pick Card, Storybook or Caption for the whole book, and flip any page's subtitle to the top so it doesn't cover a face.

  • Improved

    Truer print preview

The print preview now shows the white border your printed pages will have, so there are no surprises when the book arrives.

  • Improved

    Newsletter sign-up works

The newsletter box in Settings and the sign-up checkbox now add you to our occasional emails.

  • Fixed

    Cleared drawings stay cleared

Clearing or erasing a drawing, or replacing a page with Magic Pages, now removes it for good, on every device.

  • Fixed

    Smoother sign-in and export

A double-click on Google or Apple sign-in no longer breaks the popup, and Export my data leaves out deleted books instead of reporting them as errors.

v1.0.0
First release

My Story comes to the web

The first full release of My Story on the web. Kids can make, narrate, share and print their own storybooks in any browser, on a Chromebook, Mac or PC, with a grown-up in charge of the account. There's nothing to install, and there are no ads.

  • Make a book, page by page

Draw with pencils, crayons and markers, write the story on every page and give it a cover. Books are saved to your account, so they're waiting wherever you sign in.

  • A whole cast, ready to go

Hundreds of characters and backgrounds, plus moving stickers, GIFs, photos and 3D models, so a scene comes together fast.

  • Their voice on every page

Record narration page by page, add a soundtrack, and play the finished book back like a movie.

  • A whole book from one idea

Full Magic Story turns an idea into an illustrated book, and Explore a Topic builds one around something your child wants to learn about.

  • Magic tools on every page

Continue the story with Magic Pages, create characters and stickers, bring art to life with Magic Animate, and add narration or music with Magic Narrate and Magic Soundtracks.

  • Story Guide

A friendly helper to chat with when a young author is stuck on what happens next.

  • Memory Books

Turn a handful of family photos into a storybook to keep.

  • Story Sparks

Magic tools run on Story Sparks. Every tool shows its cost before you use it, and buying more always asks for a grown-up first.

  • Share it with family

Send a finished book to grandparents and friends with a private link.

  • The Community Library

Read books by other families and by the My Story team. A grown-up can submit a book, and every story is reviewed and shown under a pen name.

  • Order a printed book

Turn any book into a full-color printed picture book, previewed page by page before you order and delivered to your door.

  • Grown-ups in charge

A parent PIN, a PIN for each author, controls for sharing, outside media and Magic tools, and a grown-up check before any purchase. You can export or delete everything at any time.

  • Works with the iPad and iPhone app

Sign in to the same account in the free iPad or iPhone app and your books stay in sync.

  • Install it like an app

Add My Story to your computer or Chromebook from Settings, and open it like any other app.

Using the iPad or iPhone app? Its updates are listed on its App Store page.
